The raising the Awareness Campaign launched on Thursday night 31 May, on the eve of International Milk Day, was an outstanding success!
Not only dairy farmers but also businesses shared in the fun and entertainment of the night. Our guest speakers Courtney Guy, Jonathon Gleeson and Sallie Jones presented their personal experiences of the crisis facing our dairy farmers and how they view those supposedly representing them.
Sam Kekovich was a fantastic Master of Ceremonies and was just as passionate in his speeches about the state of the dairy industry and its impact on farmers.
Throughout the night Sam used his own style in overseeing a night to remember for all those present. Kayla Dwyer sang her own newly created song as a tribute to dairy farmers. There were not too many dry eyes in the house after she had finished singing.
Then there was Matt Hollywood, who has previously been crowned as ‘Entertainer of the Year’, ‘Magician of the Year’ and most recently as one of the World Champions of Magic winning the Merlin Award for ‘Illusionist of the Year. He amazed the audience with his magical skills and sense of humour.
The event itself delivered in spades on raising the awareness of the plight of our dairy farmers. Many of the participants gave feedback that it was not only a perfect night’s entertainment, but they also acknowledged they now have a better understanding of the pressure our dairy farmers are working under, and their difficulties in coping.
Once again, our thanks go out to our sponsors and to all those who supported us to make it the night such a great success.
We would also like to acknowledge the dairy farmers who took the time off from their dairies to attend the event on the night and provide the energy behind the awareness campaign for the need to deliver change.
